The curriculum of this course is designed to provide the students with practical and theoretical knowledge of Marine service and maintenance. This course combines classroom theory with practical and hands‐on training. This course is developed as a competency-based training with reference to the MQA’s guidelines and its features. This course will prepare the trainees to work as marine mechanics/ engineers. Trainees will attain four semesters of the required number of credit points for Diploma through this course.
On completion of the course, graduates will be able to obtain the knowledge and the skill to manage the marine sector in the Maldives. Graduates can progress as a self‐employed or employable mechanics for the repair and maintenance work in marine industry. Also they can act as a technically skillful work force to the needs of the service industry with good work ethics.
Successful Completion of Higher Secondary Education OR
Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program
Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR
Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program OR
20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program.
